Kat Vandusen (Owner)
A graduate with honors from Pierpont Community & Technical College with an Associate of Science degree. She holds a Bachelor's degree from Fairmont State University with focuses on Chemistry, Biology & Microbiology. While studying for her Bachelor's degree, Kat became employed at a laboratory as a chemist and trained with a senior microbiologist with over 17 years of experience. After graduating from Fairmont State, Kat went on to study for her Master's Degree at Florida Institute of Technology in Information Technology. Florida Tech has provided her with numerous courses in business management and business accounting.
After moving to West Virginia in 2006, she began the hobby of baking for her pets. This hobby continued and became even more prevalent after the adoption of Bella (The Hound Dog) in 2014. Upon finding that Bella had a grain allergy, Kat set out to find some great grain-free snacks and dog food. She was surprised to find that the price of these products was quite high. "Nothing was more frustrating than driving to the pet store and spending lots of money on dog food and treats just to have my dogs turn their nose up at them." There had to be something better.
At that moment she had an idea. What if... She let Bella make her own recipes? Kat went to work scouring the internet for grain-free recipes and after numerous failed attempts and many other alterations to recipes, finally we had it. A dog biscuit. Not just any dog biscuit, but one that was completely designed by a dog, for dogs. Bella loved her new peanut butter snacks and Kat decided to start giving them out to all the dog owners she knew. Coworkers and friends with dogs all had the same experience... their dogs loved the peanut butter biscuits just as much as Bella! "I knew that we had something special here, but business isn't 100% all about the quality of your product. There's also the issue of customer service. I wanted to offer something that no other pet food manufacturer, anywhere could. In order to be better [than your competitors], you have to do better; and this all starts by putting your customers and what they love most [their pets] first."
